When To Upgrade Heating Ducts

Home owners who have upgraded their heating system or made an addition to the home should consider upgrading the heating ducts. The duct work in the home is the means of travel for the heat in your home. it is essential that home owners replace their ductwork when the time comes. Below are a few tips to help home owners determine when to upgrade heating ducts in the home.

Insufficient Heating
If you find that rooms in your home are suffering from insufficient heating, then it is time to upgrade your duct work. This means you have an issue with your duct work and new options need to be installed to allow the heat to move into each room as it should.

Excessive Dust/Allergy Flare-ups
If you find that you or your family members are seeing an excess of dust or having allergy issues more than normal, it is time to consider a replacement duct work. You may have tears or complete blow outs of your duct work which can result in dirt and debris being added to the air in your home. this can irritate your allergies or asthma issues and should be taken care of right away to ensure the health in your home.

Musty Odors
Another reason to upgrade your duct work is a musty odor. When your duct work is below the home, it can pick up odors that are common occurrences below the home. a musty odor can be smelled if you have a leak in your duct work or an issue. This can be annoying to the home owners and should be taken care of quickly.

High Utility Bills
Another issue of duct work problems is high utility bills. When your unit is leaking heat, it can cost you precious energy and money. your unit will continue to leak until the issue is repaired. If the unit is not repaired, the heat will continue to leak out of the duct work. This means your unit will have a difficult time meeting the temperature setting. This means that your unit will continue to run and this will cost you additional money on your utility bill.

New Ductwork Installation
A new duct work installation will do away with your heating issues. A high performance duct work system has many advantages that will benefit home owners. Below are a few attributes to a new system:

  • Tighter
  • Better insulated
  • Clean
  • Engineered to handler more airflow
  • Engineered to deliver proper air flow to rooms
  • Pressure imbalances from room to room are solved
  • Quieter
  • Tested for performance

To find out if your home needs an upgrade in duct work systems, speak with your local HVAC provider. A technician will be able to evaluate your home and help you determine if you need a new install. If you do, the technician will be able to get your home ready for the new installation. This way, you will be able to remain comfortable in your home for many years to come!
