3 Signs Your AC System is in Need of Replacement

During the winter time, you may not think too much about your AC system. You may only consider taking a look at it when it gets warm. This is not a good idea. What you need to do is make sure that you get the system checked out before you need to actually use it. The best time to do this is during the winter. Most people are going to do a regular monthly check-up with their system to ensure that there is nothing wrong with it. Some people will also take a look at the filter and clean it from time to time. This is going to ensure that you will get a system that continues to circulate the air properly and filters out the dust and debris that will inevitably gather in the system. Another thing you need to keep an eye out for is whether or not you need to replace the system. There are a couple of warning signs that are going to make themselves known when you need to get a new air conditioner in. As a result, it is important to take a look at these and ensure that you get a new replacement as soon as possible.

Ten Years

For most equipment in HVAC, the lifetime is usually going to be about a decade. If you take really good care of your system, it may last a lot longer than this although there is no guarantee. If you have a system that is over ten years old, then you’d better take a look at it and make sure that there is nothing wrong it. Over time, it is inevitably going to end up breaking down. If your system is ten years old but shows no signs of slowing down, then you’d better keep a spare just in case.

Poor Air Flow
The air flow is going to be one of the most important aspects of your air conditioning system, and therefore you will need to keep an eye on it. Poor air flow is going to translate to poor performance. If things start to break down more often, then you are definitely going to have to take a look at the system more closely. A contractor may be able to determine what has to be done with the system and whether or not it is necessary for you to have a proper replacement. Poor air flow is going to be another main sign that it is time to start looking for a completely new system. You will be less comfortable if there is less circulation and temperature control.

Leakage and Moisture
If your system starts to leak, then the best thing to do is get a contractor in. If the contractor tells you that it is time your system needs to be replaced, then all you need to do is get a replacement. While it can be a daunting expense, replacing it as soon as possible will lead to greater savings and comfort.
